Sometimes a hill is steep. So steep that you must dismount, stand beside your trusty bicycle, and start doing the work of transferring the mechanical energy of your legs directly into forward motion. It’s nice for your bike to have a little break now and then.

Bannockburn to Garston:
Tough tough tough day. Gave my bike a lot of breaks today (and myself a lot too).
I climbed a mile of elevation. Mostly walking. Big breakfast and two pies to go. Steak and cheese – back to the classics.
Met some folks who gave me a fizzy drink and some chippies and offered me a ride up the next climb. They said it would count cause I could ride the motorbike, which is technically a bike. I declined, which I started to regret it after the 5th unexpected river crossing.
Hot head. Wet feet. Light food bag. Ski hut.

I feel like the trip has gone in phases related to my body and my head:
- Low physical strength, high mental drive
- High physical strength, high mental drive
- High physical strength, low mental drive
I wonder what’s up with that…
