Cave to Lake Tepako:

Hot hot hot. Dry dry dry. Climb climb climb.

Today was a two-napper. I left a stick in the library. I had some meaningful words with many cows. I climbed nearly a mile of elevation. I got to town after all the pies had been eaten out of the bakery. I could not regulate my body temperature so I ate 1 liter of sorbet. I ate momos. I swam.

Just passed the halfway mark on miles and height climbed! It’s bittersweet:

The bitter:

  • I miss all my people back home!
  • My butt hurts, my knee hurts, my achilles hurts
  • Four seasons of weather in one day can be tough to navigate

The sweet:

  • It is SO. FREAKING. BEAUTIFUL.
  • I have received so much love and generosity from kiwis all over the country!
  • Taking my hands off the brakes and zooming down a steep descent
  • The pies
  • Napping in the sun next to the road
  • Swimming in rivers, oceans, lakes next to the road
  • My silly bike that someone thought was a 65yo man’s. I named it Jordan, it wasn’t made for this, but it just keeps chugging along!

I simultaneously want this to be over and want it to never end. . .
